Beaufort’s Waterfront Mardi Gras Festival is a three-day celebration with feasts, parades, costumes, masks, and revelry. Highlights will include a Masquerade Ball, Parade & Street Carnival, PRO / AM Gumbo Competition & Tasting, and the Sinner’s Remorse Brunch.

After going to Beaufort’s Mardi Gras Celebration, you’ll understand why Beaufort was named to the list of “America’s Quirkiest Towns” by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Mardi Gras is a true display of Beaufort’s quirkiness. The parade of “krewes” in costume tossing jewelry and charms is not to be missed. The Sweet Potato Queens (a group of women, aged 40-70) who dress in elaborate costumes and perform choreographed routines are always a festive group in the parade. Enjoy an afternoon street carnival filled with Cajun food and music! Bring the kids along for the face painting and mask making experience under the tents.

Mardi Gras Attire
When it comes to what to wear for a Mardi Gras Celebration, you cannot go wrong by wearing the official Mardi Gras colors – green, purple, and gold. Wear beads. Jester hats, carnival masks, and glittery or sequined clothes are also great party outfits for those who want to go all out.
