A unique opportunity exists for night sky enthusiasts to attend a starlight cruise to Cape Lookout National Seashore, a certified International Dark Sky Park.
Experience the exceptional quality of the night skies in an International Dark Sky Park and the nighttime treasure of Cape Lookout Lighthouse. While at the lighthouse, Matthew Bruce, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, will provide a laser pointed tour describing the celestial objects of the night sky from the beach.
Date: Saturday, July 15, 2023.
Departure: The starlight cruise will depart from Cape Lookout Visitors Center, 1800 Island Road, Harkers Island.
Cruise Times: The cruise departs the Visitors Center at 8 pm and will return by 10 pm.
Pricing: The cruise is by reservation only: Adults—$27.00, children (3-11) — $17.00.

Sponsors: Cape Lookout National Seashore, Crystal Coast Stargazers, Island Express Ferry Service, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center, and the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce.
Crystal Coast Stargazers will have telescopes set up at the Visitors Center on the mainland for public stargazing beginning at 9 pm and will remain until after the ferries return.
Weather conditions can change rapidly along the coast. Events can be cancelled due to rough seas or raining weather. Please monitor weather conditions and the web sites of Cape Lookout National Seashore and the Crystal Coast Stargazers. For your comfort, you may want to bring a chair, bug spray and a jacket.
